Please note: all coaches will be specifically aware of the areas of the player’s game targeted for improvement to ensure that consistent, integrated, individual feedback is provided.

Sport Psychology

On Entry

  • Psychological profile of the player
  • Results of the above will create the foundation for a specific individual psychological program
  • Individual assistance and feedback on court
  • Off-court individual sessions
  • Group presentations
  • Specific skills and strategies are those taught by a Professional Sport Psychologist

Please note: The sport psychology program will not only enhance a player’s tennis performance, but will also carry over into all aspects of school and life

Strength, Conditioning, Movement and Agility

On Entry

  • Sports medical
  • Musculo-skeletal assessment
  • Medical assessment

Sports medical practitioners will be recommended, however you may choose your own practitioner who would be asked to follow minimum specific guidelines.

  • Testing on all fitness components such as strength, power, flexibility, muscular endurance, speed, agility, dynamic balance, response time, cardiovascular endurance and body fat
  • Individual gym programs will be designed from the outcomes of the above
  • Practical on-court drills and assessment
  • Follow-up evaluation and re-design of program as required
  • Individual periodisation of physical conditioning and playing program
  • Physical recovery program

Please note: All medical costs are to be met by the player. These will hopefully fall under medicare coverage. Costs incurred by a player for individually arranged physiotherapy, sport nutrition, sport massage or vision consultations (other than services covered specifically by the MITS program) are the responsibility of the player.

Sport Nutrition

On Entry

  • Individual assessment and advice
  • Recommendations for dietary intake to meet individual requirements for health, growth and optimal performance
  • Follow up sessions as required

On-going

Group presentations, including:

  • General nutrition guidelines
  • Pre- and post-match intake
  • Tournament days
  • Fluid requirements
  • Healthy snack and lunch ideas
  • Eating out and take-away foods

Soft Tissue Therapy

  • Group presentation. Education and practical skills in soft tissue and management.

Sport Vision

  • Sport Vision individual assessment & report (optional)
  • Integrated with on court playing performance

Media

  • Practical sessions in handling the media for example, television interviews, press etc.

Academic/Career Counseling

  • Tennis related careers
  • Information and assistance re U.S.A. Collegiate Scholarships
  • Information on Tennis Australia pathways ‘The Journey’
  • A.T.P. & W.T.A. Tours information
  • Careers outside tennis
  • Academic pathways

School

  • Pastoral care

International Tournaments and Exchanges

Travel to

  • National points tournaments
  • ITF Junior tournaments

Please note: Players will meet costs for the above trips. MITS staff will provide full supervision. Further details will be provided, as they become available.

MITS Full Time 2010 Program Fees

Tennis component of junior full time program

1. $18,000 inclusive of GST. Payable to MITS.

  • Registration and payment of non-refundable $500 deposit (deducted from first semester fees). Instalment payment of the balance in four equal amounts.

2. School component of junior full time program.

3. Fee on application for Homestay

Late Payments

Late payments will incur a late payment fee of $100. Payment default later than 2 weeks after term commencement will result in exclusion from the program.

Absence From Program – Injury/Illness/Other

Full term payments are payable regardless of player’s absence. If due to injury, alternative appropriate training/instruction will be provided. Where a long-term injury is present in the view of the directors, and supporting medical advice is provided, special arrangements may be available.

Withdrawal From Program

No refund will be made for withdrawal part way through a term.

Where a player withdraws from the program and subsequently seeks re-admission, the current non-discounted program fee will apply.

A player is required to give written advice of withdrawal a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the date of withdrawal.
